Literacy Awareness Month

6 September 2018 - Capital City, Carnswell - One out of four children grow up not knowing how to read. Literacy is learned. Illiteracy is passed along by parents who cannot read or write. The one thing we as parents can do, is read to our children. It's never to early start.

Twenty-six percent of children who were read to three or four times in the last week by a family member recognized all letters of the alphabet. This is compared to 14 percent of children who were read to less frequently.

This year, we are committed to increase literacy awareness so that all citizens understand just how important it is. An informed and educated citizenry is essential to the functioning of our modern democratic society, and we encourage educational and and community institutions across the country to help Boshkans find and evaluate the information they seek, in all its forms.
