AN ACT

1. Short title

This Bill may be cited as "The Real ID Act of 2018".

Section 1.

Understanding that the need for one national ID standard is a critical part of homeland security. The creation of this Act will set the national standard for identification.

Section 2.

(Definitions)

                (A) The term "ID" means, refers to identification or identity.

                (B) The term "standard" refers to a level of quality or attainment.

           

Section 3.

             

                (A) Data Requirements.

                          

                 A Real ID-compliant form of identification requires the following pieces of data:      

                         

                         - Full legal name

                         - Signature

                         - Date of birth

                         - Gender

                         - Unique identifying number

                         - Principal residence address

                         - Front-facing photograph of the applicant

      

                (B) Documentation required before issuing license or ID card.

                 Before a card can be issued, the applicant must provide the following documentation:

                         

                         - A photo ID, or a non-photo ID that includes full legal name and birthdate

                         - Documentation of birthdate

                         - Documentation of legal status and Social Security number

                         - Documentation showing name and principal residence address

                         - Digital images of each document will be stored in each state DMV database.

 

Section 4.

                   (A) Upon the passing of this ACT, all province DMV's have until 1 January 2019 to become compliant with this ACT.
